About Wet Wicket
A loving exploration of cricket, by cricket lovers, for cricket lovers.
Wet Wicket digs into the intricacies of the game: the maths behind rain rules, the moments that turned great matches, the laws and the lore. It mixes data explorations, match breakdowns, simple browser games, essays and tools, usually gathered into series that follow one idea as far as it goes.
Where the numbers come from
Match data comes from Cricsheet, Stephen Rushe's project publishing ball-by-ball records of more than twenty thousand matches under the Open Data Commons Attribution License. More in About the data. The code that produces our numbers is open on GitHub.
Who makes it
Wet Wicket was created by Avirook Sen and Narendra Nag.
Avirook Sen, co-creator. A Calcutta-raised journalist and author of Aarushi and Looking for America, who has been writing about sport since 1990 and has never met a cricket match that was only about cricket.
Narendra Nag, co-creator. A lifelong cricket lover who loves test matches, gets excited about ODIs and enjoys T20s (in that order) ... and I still don't understand what the 100 is.
